Safe & Nurturing Care for Expecting Mothers

Prenatal Massage

Pregnancy changes what feels comfortable, including how you rest and how long you can remain in one position. Prenatal massage at The Path to Wellness is an appointment to discuss with your maternity care team and a suitably experienced massage professional. The right starting point is your individual pregnancy and any restrictions, rather than a blanket statement that massage is safe for everyone.

Before arranging a pregnancy massage

Tell the team how far along you are and whether your pregnancy care provider has raised any concerns. Share relevant medical advice, recent symptoms, and any restrictions on bodywork or positioning. If you have a higher-risk pregnancy or are unsure whether massage is appropriate, seek guidance from your obstetric clinician before booking. Do not use a wellness visit to assess a pregnancy complication.

Explain your practical goal, such as time to relax or comfort around an area that feels tired. Ask who provides prenatal massage and what relevant training or experience they have. You should also confirm the positions used and how the appointment can be adapted if lying still becomes uncomfortable. A general massage booking does not automatically confirm prenatal suitability.

What to ask during the appointment

Discuss support cushions, room temperature, scent preferences, and areas you do not want touched. Let the therapist know what feels comfortable before work begins. Your preference may change during the session, and you can request a different position, lighter contact, a pause, or an early finish. There is no need to tolerate pressure or positioning that makes you uneasy.

Massage is not intended to induce labor, correct a pregnancy problem, or replace antenatal care. New one-sided leg swelling or pain, chest symptoms, significant bleeding, or other concerning pregnancy symptoms need medical advice urgently. Contact your maternity team about new symptoms rather than trying to resolve them by booking a massage.

Evidence and repeat appointments

The NCCIH massage overview emphasizes discussing medical suitability and practitioner qualifications. General massage evidence is not a guarantee of pregnancy-specific benefit.

There is no required prenatal massage schedule. A decision about another visit should consider your response, comfort, changing pregnancy circumstances, and advice from your maternity care provider. Review suitability again if your health changes. You are not committing to a course simply by arranging one appointment, and the approach should remain flexible throughout pregnancy.

Prenatal massage price and duration

The current booking menu lists Pre-natal Massage at $170 for 90 minutes. Confirm that a practitioner experienced in prenatal work is available and that this appointment length is appropriate for you. Ask about any adaptations and the total charge before booking. Do not substitute a standard service solely because its price or time is more convenient.

Pregnancy massage FAQs

Can I book in any trimester?

Ask your maternity provider and the practice about your circumstances. A page cannot determine suitability for every stage or pregnancy.

What if I need to change position frequently?

Discuss this before booking so the therapist can explain what can be accommodated and whether a different appointment would be preferable.

Practitioner and booking details

Ask which massage professional is available and explain the type of appointment you want before selecting a time. Our practice director is Teresa Wilkinson, RN, Doctor of Oriental Medicine, as described on the About page; availability and professional roles vary by service. Confirm your therapist, appointment length, and full price in the booking menu.

Call 918-494-0082 or compare the massage therapy options before booking. We are at 6125 S. Sheridan Rd, Suite E, Tulsa. Tell the team about recent procedures, injuries, pregnancy, and any medical restrictions so you can discuss suitability first.
