Healing-Focused Bodywork

Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic massage is a goal-focused appointment rather than a single technique or a promise to treat every cause of pain. At The Path to Wellness in Tulsa, you can discuss the activities that feel difficult, the areas that need attention, and the type of contact you prefer. A useful plan connects bodywork to a clear, realistic aim.

Choose a practical goal for the visit

Explain whether you want to address a particular area of tension, find a more comfortable resting position, or explore bodywork alongside existing care. Give examples from your day: reaching a keyboard, standing at work, or moving after a long drive. A specific description helps distinguish focused work from a general relaxation appointment.

Tell the therapist about any diagnosis, injury, surgery, or rehabilitation plan. The word therapeutic does not mean the appointment replaces medical assessment or prescribed treatment. New weakness, unexplained swelling, persistent numbness, or rapidly changing pain deserves appropriate healthcare advice. Bring restrictions from your treating clinician rather than assume all massage techniques are suitable.

What a focused session involves

Before treatment, discuss which areas will be included and what can reasonably fit into the available time. Ask the therapist to explain the intended approach and how pressure will be adjusted. You can request lighter work, avoid an area, or change position. Deep pressure is not automatically more therapeutic, and discomfort should not be treated as a test you need to pass.

During the session, give feedback if a technique produces sharp pain, tingling, or a sensation that concerns you. At the end, ask what changes to monitor and when a review would make sense. Note how your chosen activity feels during the following days instead of relying only on how relaxed you felt immediately afterward.

Evidence and a reviewable plan

The NCCIH review of massage for health describes possible benefit for some pain conditions, often short term, with limitations in the evidence.

No course length applies to every therapeutic massage client. Agree on goals and an early review point before arranging repeated visits. If the same symptom keeps returning or progress is unclear, discuss whether another assessment or a change in approach would be more useful. Ongoing care should be a considered choice based on response, preferences, and cost.

Therapeutic massage prices

The current booking menu lists Therapeutic Massage at $85 for 30 minutes and $240 for 120 minutes. Confirm the appropriate appointment with the team, particularly if you need work on more than one area. These named service rates differ from general massage pricing; ask which option you are selecting and what it includes before booking.

Therapeutic massage questions

How is this different from relaxation massage?

The discussion centers on a specific goal and how progress will be reviewed. It can still use comfortable pressure and a calm pace.

Do I need a long appointment?

Not necessarily. Ask what can be covered within the available options instead of assuming the longest visit is required.

Can I combine it with physical therapy?

Share your therapist’s advice and restrictions so complementary bodywork does not conflict with your care plan.

Practitioner and booking details

Ask which massage professional is available and explain the type of appointment you want before selecting a time. Our practice director is Teresa Wilkinson, RN, Doctor of Oriental Medicine, as described on the About page; availability and professional roles vary by service. Confirm your therapist, appointment length, and full price in the booking menu.

Call 918-494-0082 or compare the massage therapy options before booking. We are at 6125 S. Sheridan Rd, Suite E, Tulsa. Tell the team about recent procedures, injuries, pregnancy, and any medical restrictions so you can discuss suitability first.
